here we go
My mom had only one eye. I hated her because she was an embarrassment to me. She worked as a housemaid to support the family.
One day, my mom came to my school to know about my progress in studies. I was so embarrassed by her presence in the school. I ignored her, threw her a hateful look and ran out in shame and anger. My classmates teased me, saying "Hey, you mom has only one eye!" My anger went so high and I said to my mom," you made me shameful in front of my friends. Why don't you just die?!!!"
My mom did not respond anything. I didn't even care how much I had hurt her. I hated her very much and separated from her. I studied hard and got a good job in a far away city. Later, I got married, got two kids and bought a big house of my own. I was happy with my life and the new comforts.
Then one day, my mother came to visit me after many years. When she stood by the door, I yelled at her for coming over uninvited. I screamed at her, " how dare you come to my house and scare my children! "GET OUT OF HERE! NOW!!!" And to this , my mother quietly answered, " oh, I'm so sorry. I may have gotten the wrong address," and she disappeared out of sight.
One day , a letter regarding a college reunion day came to me . So I went to my home town. After the reunion function in the college, I went to my old house just out of curiosity. My neighbors said that she died. They handed me a letter that she had written to me. In the letter my mother writes: "My dear son, I think of you all the time. I was so glad when I heard you were coming for the reunion. But I might not be able to even get out of bed to see you. I'm sorry that I was a constant embarrassment to you when you were growing up. You see………when you were very little, you got into an accident , and lost your eye. As a mother , I couldn't stand watching you having to grow up with one eye. So I gave you mine . I was so proud of my son who was seeing a whole new world for me, in my place , with that eye.
With my love to you – your ever-loving mother."
